This neoclassical tomb of the unknown soldier stands near the Alexandria waterfront, a short walk from the city's central squares and corniche. Built between 1927 and 1938 as a memorial to Khedive Ismail, it was later rededicated as a military memorial.
It is a quick stop rather than a long visit, but the monument is photogenic in daylight and especially atmospheric when lit in the evening.
