Al-Hakim Mosque

Al-Hakim Mosque is one of Islamic Cairo's great Fatimid monuments. Construction began in the late 10th century under Caliph al-Aziz and was completed under al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah.

The mosque sits near Bab al-Futuh at the northern edge of the old city walls. Its scale, long history, and restored courtyard make it a strong stop on a walk through medieval Cairo.
