Panorama Reef

A 60–90 minute boat ride south of Safaga brings you to one of the Red Sea's most dramatic walls. The reef drops sheer to over 200 metres, with grottos, overhangs, gorgonian fans, and soft corals covering every surface. Strong currents make this best approached as a drift dive — you let the flow carry you along the wall while the fish do the work of appearing. Jacks, barracuda, reef sharks, and a well-established family of Napoleon wrasse are regular presences. The current that makes this site so productive also means it's not suitable for inexperienced divers; most operators require open-water certification and some dive experience before booking.
