In the late afternoon, the beach at Cape Point transforms. Wooden pirogues come in through the surf, their catch loaded into tubs and baskets while fisherwomen move across the sand with fish balanced on their heads. Buyers negotiate, nets are spread for drying, and the whole scene plays out against a sky that is often spectacular at that hour.
This is not a market in the formal sense — there is no building, no stalls. It is simply where the catch lands and changes hands. Come between 4pm and 6pm for the full activity. The headland itself makes a good vantage point for watching the sunset after the market noise has quieted.
