A private beach about 35 km west of central Accra, near the village of Bortianor, accessed by a short canoe crossing over a lagoon — an arrangement that keeps the casual crowd away and the beach considerably cleaner than Labadi. The narrow strip of sand squeezed between lagoon and ocean is one of the nicest near-city beaches in Ghana: the surf is real, the undertow demands respect, and on weekdays you can find a stretch of beach to yourself.
Bar, loungers, and beach volleyball are available; a small entrance fee covers the canoe crossing. Go on a weekday if you can — the Accra weekend crowd arrives in force on Saturdays and the beach loses some of its ease. The drive out along the coastal road west of Accra passes through fishing villages and a stretch of lagoon coast that's worth the journey even if you don't swim.
