Kotoka International Airport (IATA: ACC), now officially Accra International Airport, sits about 10 km north of the city centre in the Cantonments area and handles flights from Europe, North America, the Middle East, and across West Africa. It is the busiest airport in West Africa and the hub for Africa World Airlines and other regional carriers. Taxis to the centre take 20–40 minutes depending on traffic, which can be severe in the afternoon rush; agree the fare before getting in. Bolt and Uber both work at the airport arrivals hall and are generally the cheaper and lower-friction option. Shared taxis and tro-tros are available from the road outside but are unfriendly to luggage.
From other Ghanaian cities, STC (State Transport Corporation) and OA Travel buses serve Accra from Cape Coast, Kumasi, Takoradi, and other major towns; they arrive at the Tema Station in central Accra. Tro-tros use various terminals depending on origin: Neoplan Station and Tudu for Kumasi and the north, Tema Station for the east and coast. From Kumasi by road is about four hours on the N6; from Cape Coast around three hours. Night buses run on the Kumasi route and are reasonably comfortable.
