The University of Ghana campus in Legon is a calm, leafy break from central Accra, with old trees, low academic buildings, and wide lawns. It is worth a wander if you want to see a quieter side of the city or are already heading toward East Legon and Madina.
The botanical garden is the most obvious visitor stop, though it is better visited in daylight and with normal city caution. Campus cafeterias are open to outsiders and are a useful place to try simple Ghanaian food without much fuss.
