The village of Bonwire, about 30 minutes from central Kumasi, is the home of kente cloth weaving. Weavers work on narrow-strip hand looms under open sheds, producing the distinctive multi-coloured cloth worn at Ghanaian ceremonies. You can watch them at work and buy directly from the artisans — prices here are lower than in the city, and the cloth is unquestionably authentic.
