Almost all international visitors arrive at Conakry Gbessia International Airport (CKY). Direct flights connect Conakry to Paris (Air France), Brussels (Brussels Airlines), and several West African capitals including Dakar, Abidjan, and Freetown. From North America or Asia, you will need to connect through Europe or a regional hub.
Overland entry is possible from all of Guinea's neighbors, though border crossings range from straightforward to tedious. The most common routes are from Senegal via Koundara or Labe, from Mali via Kankan, from Sierra Leone via Pamelap or Gbalamuya, and from Guinea-Bissau via Quebo. Shared taxis and bush taxis run to all these borders, but expect long waits and frequent vehicle changes.
There is a ferry service between Conakry and Freetown in Sierra Leone that runs intermittently. Check locally for current schedules, as service can be disrupted.
Visas are required for most nationalities. Guinea now offers an e-visa system -- apply online several days before travel and upload a scan of your yellow fever vaccination certificate. A valid yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for entry; you will be asked for it at the airport. Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date.
Arrive with euros or US dollars in cash to exchange. There are very few functioning ATMs even in Conakry, and credit cards are almost never accepted.
