Eating Out

Nakuru's food scene is built around solid, no-frills Kenyan cooking — nyama choma (grilled goat or beef), ugali, sukuma wiki, pilau, and chapati — with a strong Indian influence thanks to the city's long-established Asian-Kenyan community. The town centre and the better hotels (the Cathay, the Waterbuck, the Merica) have the most reliable kitchens. For something quick and cheap, the cafes around Kenyatta Avenue do good lunches; for an evening out, most of the bars listed in Bars and Cafes also do food.
