St. Louis Cathedral

St. Louis Cathedral is the seat of the Catholic Diocese of Port Louis, a twin-towered stone church south-east of Place d'Armes. The current building dates from 1932 — the third on the site after earlier churches were destroyed by cyclones — and combines Romanesque and neo-classical elements.

The interior is cool and dim, with a marble altar and stained glass windows. The square in front is a quiet corner of the city centre, shaded by mature trees. Open daily; entry is free.
