Getting Around

The medina and ville nouvelle are compact enough to cover on foot, and walking is the best way to experience the city. For longer distances, petit taxis (small blue cabs) are cheap and plentiful. They have designated stops but can also be flagged down. Some have meters; if yours does not, agree on a price before getting in. A ride within the city should not cost more than 20 to 30 dirhams. Grand taxis (larger shared cars) cover routes to the outskirts and nearby towns.
