Tetouan Archaeological Museum

A small but rewarding museum on Avenue al-Jazaer, in the Spanish quarter. The collection focuses on finds from the nearby Roman site of Tamuda and from coastal settlements along the Strait of Gibraltar. The highlight is a series of well-preserved mosaics, including Bacchus, the Three Graces, and a striking marine scene from Lixus.

The building itself dates from the Spanish protectorate, and the rooms are small enough to walk through in an hour. Tickets are cheap, the captions are mostly in French and Arabic, and the staff are happy to point out the better pieces.
