Day Trips

The classic long day trip is Badagry, two hours west of the city — the small Atlantic port that was one of the largest slave-trade ports in West Africa for three centuries, with a chain of small museums and the Point of No Return on the beach where the slave ships loaded. Closer to home, Lufasi Park and La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort on the Lekki-Epe Expressway make decent half-day escapes; and the wildlife and forest of the Lekki Conservation Centre is the obvious in-city green walk. For a longer trip, Abeokuta (two hours north) has the Olumo Rock and the Adire-cloth markets.
