The Anglican cathedral on Lightfoot Boston Street, built between 1817 and 1828, is the oldest stone church in Freetown and one of the oldest in West Africa. The white-painted exterior with its squat clock tower is a familiar sight on the city's central skyline.
The interior is plain but cool, with memorials to colonial officials and early Krio settlers lining the walls. Sunday services are well attended and the choir is excellent. Outside service times, the verger is usually around to let visitors in.
