Truth Coffee is hard to miss — the interior of the Buitenkant Street building is fitted out in an exuberant steampunk style of copper pipes, gears, leather and exposed brick that has been photographed by every coffee publication and lifestyle magazine that has passed through Cape Town in the last decade. The coffee, however, is the actual reason to come. Truth roasts its own beans, trains its own baristas, and takes espresso extraction seriously enough to justify the reputation.
The space is large by coffee-shop standards, with a full brunch and lunch menu that has improved steadily since opening. It gets busy late on weekend mornings. The Buitenkant Street location is a short walk from the City Bowl centre and convenient before or after a visit to the District Six Museum two blocks away.
