Shopping

Shopping in Tunis means the souks. The covered markets of the medina sell everything from hand-woven carpets and Berber jewellery to pottery, leather goods, and aromatic spices. Prices are negotiable and usually start at double what the vendor expects to get. The Central Market, established in the 19th century, is where locals buy fresh bread, olives, cheese, and seasonal produce. For a more conventional experience, the Tunis City Mall on the outskirts of town has international brands.
