Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the best times to visit Tunis. Temperatures are comfortable for walking the medina and exploring outdoor sites. Summers are hot and dry, with temperatures regularly above 35C and a scorching sirocco wind from the Sahara. Winters are mild but rainy, with temperatures around 10-15C.
Ramadan changes the rhythm of the city significantly -- many cafes and restaurants close during daylight hours, and nightlife pauses. The Medina Festival, held during Ramadan, offers Arabic and Western entertainment at the Municipal Theatre. The Saharian Festival in December and January celebrates desert traditions with folk art and music on the city's outskirts. The Mediterranean Guitar Festival in March brings acoustic performances to venues across the city.
