Tunis packs a surprising amount into a compact area. The medina and its mosques and palaces are the centrepiece, but the Bardo Museum, the ruins at Carthage, and the beaches along the northern suburbs all compete for your time. Most of the major sights are reachable by the city's light rail or a cheap taxi ride.
