Koh Rong Sanloem is Koh Rong's smaller, calmer sister, about an hour by boat from the mainland. The east coast village of Saracen Bay is the main hub — a single curving beach with a line of small resorts; the west coast has wilder, less developed bays reached by a hike across the island.
Sanloem is the choice for travellers who want the island experience without the parties. It has no roads, no real towns, and at night the only sound is the surf. Snorkelling and diving on the offshore reefs are excellent. Boats from Sihanoukville run several times a day in dry season.
