Fuzhou Confucian Temple

The Fuzhou Confucian Temple — locally known as Xianshi Temple — dates from the Tang dynasty and has been rebuilt and restored through the centuries. It stands near the base of Yushan hill in the old city and is a working ritual site, particularly active during the spring and autumn Confucian ceremonies. The complex includes the main hall, a pavilion, and a small museum on Confucian culture.

The temple is quieter than the commercial bustle of Three Lanes and Seven Alleys nearby, and the hall interiors have a genuine atmosphere. It is within easy walking distance of the historic district and makes a good combined visit.
