Donglin Academy is a preserved Ming- and Qing-era academy with courtyards, gardens, and classrooms used to prepare students for the imperial examinations. It gives a clear look at the scholarly side of old Wuxi, away from the busier canal districts.
The site is compact and works well as a quiet stop before or after visiting Nanchan Temple or Qingming Bridge Historic District.
