Ameen Peer Dargah

Ameen Peer Dargah is the most visited Sufi shrine in Cuddapah and one of the more important in the Rayalaseema region. The complex includes the saint's tomb, a mosque, a langar (community kitchen), and a maze of pilgrim accommodation; the courtyard fills with devotees of all faiths offering green cloth, flowers, and supplications. The atmosphere is open and welcoming — non-Muslims are not just tolerated but expected.

Visitors should dress modestly and remove shoes at the inner courtyard. Thursdays and Fridays draw the largest weekly crowds. The annual urs, usually around January or February depending on the Islamic calendar, transforms the area for several days.

A story
The shrine commemorates Peerullah Hussaini Shah Sani, an 18th-century Sufi saint of the Qadiri order, known locally as 'Amin Peer Sahib'. The annual urs — the saint's death anniversary observance — draws tens of thousands of pilgrims, both Muslim and Hindu, from across Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
