Paloncha is an industrial town in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district of Telangana, on the Godavari River. It grew up around heavy industry — the Kothagudem Thermal Power Station (KTPS), the Navabharat Ferro Alloys plant, and Sponge Iron India Limited (SIIL) are the main employers, and the town's residential colonies reflect that origins.
The surrounding landscape is more interesting than the town itself. The Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary lies just to the north, protecting good forest cover along the Kinnerasani River. The Eastern Ghats foothills provide trekking, and the reservoir is a popular spot for day trips from Hyderabad and Warangal. The Venkateswara Temple on Navabharat Hill is the main religious site and gives good views over the town and the forested ridges beyond.
Paloncha is connected by road to Kothagudem, the nearest railhead, about 8 km away. From there, trains run to Hyderabad and Vijayawada.
