The Bumzuva caves are a pair of natural limestone caverns in the village of Bumazuv, on the road between Anantnag and Pahalgam. The caves were converted into Hindu shrines, with sculpted stone temples set into and around the cave mouths. The architecture echoes the same Kashmiri style as Martand, with trefoil arches and steeply pitched roofs.
The site is little visited and worth the small detour from the main Pahalgam road. The cave interiors are dark and atmospheric — bring a torch if you want to see anything beyond the entrance.
