The spring-fed pools at Mattan, below the Martand plateau, are a pilgrimage site for Kashmiri Pandits and one of the oldest sacred spots in the valley. Carp and trout swim in the clear water, fed by pilgrims, and the surrounding ghats see ritual bathing and ancestral offerings throughout the year.
Combine the springs with the Sun Temple above. The town of Mattan itself is small and easy to walk through; chai stalls cluster around the spring complex.
