Kundala Lake sits among tea country and rounded hills east of Munnar, giving the area a quieter mountain-lake excursion beyond the town's busier viewpoints. The water, dam, and surrounding slopes make it a straightforward scenic stop on a drive through the high ranges.
The lake is best treated as part of a half-day route with Mattupetty and Top Station rather than as a standalone destination. Weather changes quickly in the hills, so clear mornings usually give the best views.
