Bada Ganpati

Indore temple known for its unusually large seated Ganesh idol

Bada Ganpati is a neighbourhood temple in western Indore, famous for the sheer size of its Ganesh idol. The name means "big Ganpati", and the shrine is exactly that: less architecturally elaborate than some of Indore's palaces and markets, but memorable for the devotional scale of the image.

It is best visited as part of a short circuit through old Indore rather than as a standalone excursion. The atmosphere is busiest around festival days and evening worship. Dress modestly, leave shoes where indicated, and expect a living temple rather than a quiet heritage site.
