Khajrana Ganesh Temple

One of Indore's most revered temples, particularly auspicious for business and new ventures

The Khajrana Ganesh Temple is one of the most important religious sites in Indore, a large and busy Hindu temple dedicated to Ganesha in the Khajrana neighbourhood of eastern Indore. The main idol is believed to be a wish-fulfilling deity, and the temple is particularly popular with business owners and people embarking on new ventures — you will see Mercedes-Benz SUVs in the car park alongside autos and cycles.

The temple complex is large and lively, with music, the smell of incense and flowers, and a constant stream of worshippers. Visiting on a Wednesday (Ganesha's day) or during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival in August or September, when the idol is elaborately decorated and the area fills with celebrations, gives the fullest experience. The prasad (temple sweets) distributed here — especially the modak — are considered among the best in the city.
