Elephant's Head Point, also called Needle Point, is one of Mahabaleshwar's memorable cliff-edge viewpoints. The name comes from a rock formation whose ridge and gap suggest an elephant's head and trunk, but the wider reason to come is the open view across the Sahyadri hills and valleys.
Go early or in clear post-monsoon weather if you want the best visibility. The viewpoint can be busy and mist can erase the panorama quickly, so it is worth treating it as a timing-sensitive stop rather than just another mark on the Mahabaleshwar viewpoint circuit.
