Savitri Point

Mahabaleshwar viewpoint over forested ridges and the Savitri River valley

Savitri Point is one of Mahabaleshwar's many viewpoints, looking out over the folded ridges and valleys that make the hill station worth visiting in the first place. The view is the attraction: layers of green in the monsoon, haze and warm light in the dry season, and a sudden drop that reminds you how high the plateau sits.

It is best folded into a circuit of points rather than visited alone. Go early or late for clearer air and softer light, and skip it in heavy mist unless you are content with the mood of cloud forest rather than a panorama.
