Aska is a town in Ganjam District, Odisha, about 40km from Berhampur. It is known locally as the "Sugar City," a nickname earned by the Aska Sugar Mill, established here in 1824 and claimed to be one of the oldest sugar mills in Asia.
The Khambeswari temple is the main religious site in town, drawing pilgrims from across the district. The most animated time to visit is during the Dandanacha festival (March–April), dedicated to the goddess Maa Kali, which culminates on the final day — the Meru — in a procession that draws large crowds from the surrounding area. The nearby Lakhari Valley Wildlife Sanctuary, about 5km out of town in the Eastern Ghats foothills, provides wildlife viewing in relatively uncrowded forest.
