Kaulsar Sarovar is one of Amritsar's sacred pools, close to the Golden Temple complex but quieter than the main Amrit Sarovar. It is associated with Mata Kaulan, a Muslim woman protected by Guru Hargobind, and the story gives the pool a useful reminder of the layered Sikh and Muslim history around the shrine quarter.
