Bapu Bazaar is the principal shopping street of Jaipur's old city — a long, busy road lined with shops selling textiles, block-printed fabrics, leather mojari shoes, lace, brassware, and craft goods. It runs parallel to the city's main road inside the pink walls and is the place to shop if you want variety in one stretch.
The textiles are the main draw: Rajasthan is a center for block printing, bandhani (tie-dye), and leheriya (wave-pattern dyeing), and Bapu Bazaar has all of them. Quality varies, and some of what's sold here is machine-printed rather than hand-blocked — check by holding fabrics up to the light (hand-block printing bleeds through; screen printing does not).
Mojari shoes (leather uppers with embroidered decoration, turned-up toes) are also a Jaipur specialty worth buying here. Prices are lower than in boutique shops but you will need to haggle, and some persistence is required to find quality pieces among the tourist-oriented stock.
