Ambarawa's main draws are its lake and its historic railway. Rawa Pening Lake is a photographer's dream at sunrise, and the Ambarawa Train Museum lets you ride vintage steam locomotives through beautiful countryside. From Ambarawa you can also visit the Bandungan flower market and the hilltop Hindu temple complex of Candi Gedung Songo.
