Anyer Lighthouse

Anyer Lighthouse stands on the Sunda Strait coast, marking the western end of Java's old Great Post Road. The original lighthouse was destroyed by the 1883 Krakatoa tsunami; the present tower was built soon afterwards under the Dutch colonial government.

It is a simple stop, but a worthwhile one if you are following the coast around Anyer and Carita. The monument behind the tower marks kilometre zero of the road that once tied Java together from west to east.
