Getting There

Banjarmasin is served by Syamsudin Noor Airport (BDJ), about 25km from the city centre. Garuda Indonesia and Lion Air operate regular flights from Jakarta (around 1.5 hours) and Surabaya. A taxi from the airport to the city centre takes 30–45 minutes depending on traffic.

There is no rail connection to Banjarmasin. Long-distance buses connect the city to destinations in South and Central Kalimantan. Ferry services operate from the Trisakti port to Java (Surabaya) and Sulawesi; the Surabaya crossing takes about 18 hours and is a cost-effective option for those not in a hurry.
