Pasar Kuin Floating Market

Morning floating market on the Barito and Kuin rivers

Pasar Kuin — also called Muara Kuin — is the older and more accessible of Banjarmasin's floating markets, located at the junction of the Barito and Kuin rivers close to the city centre. It is busier and more touristy than Lok Baintan, but still lively in the early morning hours. Floating stalls sell fresh produce alongside packaged goods: toothpaste, soy sauce, condensed milk, shampoo. The market is typically combined with Lok Baintan on a single klotok trip. Worth stopping for a bowl of Soto Banjar — the local light soup served with rice cake — from one of the floating food vendors.
