The Kahayan Bridge is the cable-stayed orange-painted steel span that crosses the river just north of the city centre — by some distance the most photographed landmark in Palangka Raya. Built in the early 2000s, it ended decades of dependence on small ferries and connects the city to the road network heading east towards Banjarmasin.
The river view from the middle of the bridge — floating houses, klotok boats, jungle behind — is the best free panorama in town. Sunset is the time to go.
