The Pasar Besar (Big Market) is the largest and oldest market in Palangka Raya — a busy, sprawling complex of stalls selling river fish, rattan baskets, fresh fruit, kaftan-style cloth, dried goods, and prepared food. Early morning is the best time; by midday the heat thins the crowd.
The food stalls along the perimeter are an excellent (and cheap) introduction to local dishes — patin bakar, soto Banjar, nasi kuning.
