Pontianak's attractions cluster around the river confluence and the Equator Monument a few kilometres north. The city's Chinese-Malay heritage shows in the old waterfront neighbourhood, the sultanate palace, and the mosque beside the river. Allow at least two days to explore the city properly before heading upriver into the Kalimantan interior.
