Losari Beach

Losari Beach is less a beach than a long seafront promenade, and it is at its best in the late afternoon when half the city seems to descend for the sunset. Vendors set up along the waterfront selling grilled fish, cumi (squid), and pisang epe — pressed grilled banana drizzled with palm sugar — alongside cold drinks and snacks. Families, couples, and groups of young people fill every bench and wall. It is not a quiet spot, but it captures something real about how Makassar uses its waterfront, and the sunsets over the Makassar Strait are genuinely good. Fort Rotterdam is a ten-minute walk to the north.
