Most of Batam's nightlife clusters around Nagoya — specifically the Nagoya Entertainment District (NED), bounded by the Melia, Goodway and Harmoni hotels. Expect a packed strip of pubs, karaoke joints, live-music bars and large discos that get going around midnight. The scene leans heavily towards Singaporean weekenders and has a strong red-light element; the atmosphere is loud, smoky and not especially refined. For something quieter, try the rooftop or wine bars inside the bigger hotels.
