Shinmeiguu Shrine is a small historic shrine near Kanazawa's old samurai and temple districts. It is best known for the old zelkova tree in its grounds, a local landmark said to be more than 900 years old.
The shrine is a quiet add-on rather than a headline sight. It fits well into a walk between Myoryuji, Nagamachi, and the museums west of the city centre.
