Tentoku-in is a Soto Zen temple on the Kodatsuno side of Kanazawa, away from the city's busiest sightseeing circuit. It was founded in memory of Princess Tamahime, daughter of shogun Tokugawa Hidetada and wife of Maeda Toshitsune, linking the temple directly to the political marriage between the Tokugawa shogunate and the Maeda lords of Kaga.
The temple is calm rather than spectacular, with a dignified gate, tatami rooms, and displays that explain Tamahime's short life and the Maeda connection. It is a good addition if you have already seen Kenroku-en and the castle area and want a quieter place that still speaks to Kanazawa's feudal history.
