Sapporo's Peace Pagoda stands on the hills above the city and was built by the Nipponzan Myohoji Buddhist order as a postwar peace monument. Its white form is visible from many parts of Sapporo, especially around Mount Moiwa.
The pagoda is a quiet stop rather than a major complex, but the setting gives it both a spiritual and scenic appeal.
