The tram is by far the best way to get around. Four lines cover essentially every place a tourist wants to visit, including the Atomic Bomb Museum, Peace Park, Glover Garden, Chinatown, and Shianbashi. A flat fare of 140 yen per ride; a 600 yen day pass pays for itself in five rides and is sold at hotels and tourist information offices, not on the trams themselves.
Most of the central sights are also walkable from one another — the old town is compact and the harbour, Dejima, and Chinatown sit within ten minutes of each other on foot. Walking up to Glover Garden and the Dutch Slope is steep but rewarding.
Taxis are easy to find at major sights and stations. For Mount Inasa, take the ropeway from Fuchi Shrine; a free shuttle bus runs to the ropeway base from major hotels.
