A two-floor Aqaba institution on Al-Nahda Street, Captain's has been a reliable choice for grilled fish, kebabs, and an enormous mezze spread for over two decades. The room is large and brisk, designed to feed full coach parties at high season as well as families on the weekend; the cooking is consistent rather than thrilling.
The fish — usually red snapper, hammour, or sometimes a smaller catch grilled whole — is reliably good, and the mezze (hummus, mutabal, kibbeh, tabbouleh) are above average for the city. Alcohol is served; prices are middle-of-the-road by Aqaba standards. Reservations not normally needed except during Eid.
