Liberation Tower

372-metre telecommunications tower with observation deck and rotating restaurant

The Liberation Tower is Kuwait's tallest structure, a 372-metre telecommunications tower in central Kuwait City that rivals the Kuwait Towers as the city's visual landmark. An observation deck at 300 metres offers the most comprehensive view of Kuwait City and the Gulf, and on clear days the outline of the Iraqi coast is visible to the north.

A revolving restaurant near the top provides a more leisurely way to take in the view. The tower is less visited than the Kuwait Towers — partly because it is primarily a telecommunications facility rather than a designed attraction — but the observation deck is genuinely worth the visit for the panoramic perspective it gives over the flat, sprawling city and the surrounding desert.

Tickets for the observation deck and restaurant are available at the base. Check opening hours in advance, as they vary with demand.

A story
Construction of the Liberation Tower began in 1990, just before the Iraqi invasion. The tower was under construction when Iraqi forces occupied Kuwait City and was seized, damaged, and used as a military communications post. After liberation in 1991, it was renamed the Liberation Tower and completed in 1993. It stands as both a telecommunications infrastructure and a symbol of the recovery — the country built its future literally from where the invasion had interrupted it.
