Sadu House

Pre-oil Kuwaiti house showcasing Bedouin weaving traditions

Located near the National Museum on the Seif, Sadu House (the House of Weaving) is a fine example of a pre-oil era Kuwaiti house. It exhibits traditional Bedouin textiles -- camel bags, tent dividers, carpets, and cushions -- and hosts weaving demonstrations that show the techniques still practised by Bedouin women.

The house itself is as interesting as the collection. Built in the traditional style with a central courtyard, it offers a glimpse of what Kuwait looked like before oil wealth transformed the country. A quiet, understated museum that is well worth a visit.
